The lockets I had made for Katrin and Maya for their birthdays. Katrin’s has a picture of our family and a picture of her with her grandmother. Maya’s has a picture of her friend, Casey, who passed away in October and the same family picture as Kat’s.

Dessert was fresh berries with homemade Progenex Cookies N’ Cream whipped cream, and Steve’s PaleoGoods Pumpkin PaleoKrunch.

The two of their ages together is still over 10 years younger than me.

I would’ve mixed the berries up, but naturally my kids each only like one kind so I have to keep them separate or all hell breaks loose.

Impulsively grabbed two things in the checkout line at the grocery store for Bode even though his birthday isn’t until tomorrow: a $1 matchbox car and a small bag of Swedish Fish since he asked for that for his birthday.

Jonah and Giannni made a tower out of the blocks that Ronda brought over a couple weeks ago. I can’t BELIEVE how much action those bricks have gotten since she dropped them off for us.

Kale salad with apples, oranges, red and yellow pepper, onion, avocado, and a vinegairette and some of my homemade mayo.

Nothing like gearing up for a big dishwasher emptying session, only to find that your nanny did it for you.

6 pounds of Fell’s Steak Tips…and, there’s barely any left.

Ben’s lunch, pulled together with a bunch of Paleo Naturals sides we order every week on their Custom Plan!

My favorite part of starting up in the morning.

image image image image image image image image image Tonight we celebrated Katrin’s 23rd birthday.  I tried to control myself and not invite everyone she knows because her favorite nights are spent at our house with no one but the kids around her, laying in front of the fireplace, eating great food and watching movies.

Now, Maya’s birthday was last Thursday and Bode turns 4 years old tomorrow.  So, it’s a super exciting week for our family.  And, if you’ve ever had a 4 year old, you know that this is one of the best birthdays for a kid because they really start to get that it’s a special day for them.  It’s awesome.

So, when I was putting Bode to bed tonight, I tried to talk up his birthday tomorrow as much as I could.  I even asked him if he knew why we celebrate birthdays.  He had no idea.

“Your birthday is the day we celebrate the day you were born.”

“Oh.”

“Did you know that when you were a really, really little baby, you were in my belly?”

“Really???”

“Yup, you were this small and you lived in my belly for a long time.”

“How did I get out?”

“You just came out.”

“But, how did I get out?”

“You just came out.”

“From your mouth!?!”

“No, from my vagina.”

“Your mouth???”

“Nope, from between my legs.”

Ewww.  I want to go to bed.”

“I think that’s a great idea.”

And, we said our goodnights.

I’d call that a win.
