The Good Life

Maya lays her clothes out for the next day. So does Jonah. She asked me if I did, too. LIKE, NOOOOO, I DON’T LAY OUT MY GYM CLOTHES THE NIGHT BEFORE. NOOOO.

You guys.  I just freaking love music.  I really do.  I mean, I wish I were, like, some super-talented musician that could write and play music that people could connect over.

Unfortunately, I’m just not.

But, I can say this: I feel it.

I’m telling you, there is this thing that I truly feel can come through with music that you can’t find in any other form of communication.

I can’t even tell you how many times I have tried to belt out some emotional song and had to stop because I start choking up and am about to start openly weeping.

Or, the number of times I’ve listened to something and felt it change my state of mind, spike my feeling of freedom and independence, and make me crave that world of creativity and free-thinking.

Part of it is that feeling you get when you witness an entire community of people that invite and welcome uniqueness and imagination.  The music industry is that for me.  It’s a group of people that are just exploring their feelings, emotions, and experiences and dumping it all out there on the table for people to sift through and find some common thread that connects them despite any sort of barriers that would, otherwise, keep them from connecting with those people in the first place.

Man alive, when you find an artist that is really good at translating their own personal experiences into music, and knowing how honest and open they’re being with their private lives, it makes for an incredible “relationship” between an artist and their fans.  And, I think that’s both beautiful and infectious.

I love singing out loud.  I love dancing in public.  And, I love listening to the sound of it.

I just wish I could create it myself 🙂
